Update (12.04.2017): Pho’s menu is no longer completely gluten free. Unfortunately issues with suppliers have arised and a few things are no longer safe, including the fried spring rolls. My favourite, sadly!! I really hope they fix this issue and find a way to make these gluten free again! :/

This Vietnamese restaurant chain has been one of my safe places to eat at in London for a few years. They’ve always been very clued up about allergens/cross contamination, but they recently made virtually everything on their menu gluten free so it’s better than ever before! We can now even have the deep fried stuff like crispy spring rolls and banana fritters!

There is only one item on the menu that contains gluten – the chocolate truffle slab – and I was told that this dessert comes in pre-packaged to avoid cross-contamination. Amazing, right? Nothing less than a Coeliac heaven!

For those interested, they also cater for dairy/egg free diets and as a bonus, a lot of their food is also clean and healthy.

They have several locations across London and a few in other UK cities too which is so convenient. For all these ‘stuck not knowing where to eat’ moments while out and about in London, there’s always this safe (and delicious) place to fall back on. 🙂

I highly recommend this place. The food is fantastic, affordable and everyone I’ve brought there (gluten free or not) has thoroughly enjoyed it.

Crispy pork spring rolls  – OMG!! I can’t remember the last time I had proper spring rolls/egg rolls before Pho made these gluten free and they taste amazing! Just like I remember ‘real’ spring rolls being, both in terms of flavour and texture. I’ve always liked Pho, but I do even more now that they’ve made their whole menu gluten free!

Update (22.07.16)

Pho saved us again during a recent trip to Manchester. Now that more and more branches are opening outside of London, it’s fast becoming my ultimate go-to safe restaurant.

And I must add that the service was particularly great this time. It was a very hot day (at least it was for us here in the UK lol) so the waitress brought a bowl of water out with ice cubes for my dogs and even gave them a small bowl of boiled chicken pieces for free. It definitely made my two very spoiled chihuahuas’ day. 🙂

Crispy chicken wings with sriracha sauce – my boyfriend and I shared these as a starter and they were absolutely delicious!

Turmeric chicken bun noodle bowl – this is from their special summer menu and definitely worth it. It was so yummy and the mixture of cooked and raw ingredients made it the perfect summer lunch.
