I was casually scrolling down my Instagram feed a few days ago when I stumbled on a post by Beyond Bread celebrating their Islington branch’s first month since opening.
UPDATE: PERMANENTLY CLOSED
Wait, what!? Beyond Bread has an Islington branch!? But this is where I live. I walk down this street nearly every day. How did I not see it? How did I not hear about this?! Well I have no idea, but how exciting!
This is yet another awesome addition to the gluten free heaven that this area has become in recent years. With Artisan Gluten Free Bakery further down the street, Niche near Angel tube station, the recently made completely gluten free vietnamese restaurant Pho and a huge selection of gluten free friendly restaurants (including the fantastic Tierra Peru and Bird), Beyond Bread opening a new branch here is just the icing on the cake.
I’ve always loved Beyond Bread, but due to their original branch’s location (in Goodge Street), I haven’t been able to eat there as often as I wish. I just don’t find myself in those parts of Central London that often, but now that they’re in Islington, I expect to become a regular.
My boyfriend and I stopped by the day after to check it out and shared a cinnamon roll and red velvet cupcake. 🙂
We then took a look at the brunch menu and discovered some amazing additions that are only available at the Islington branch! Notably the waffles served with Greek Yoghurt, cherry compote and pistachios! Or the pancakes served with red berry coulis, coconut yoghurt and toasted almond flakes!
So naturally we had to go back this morning for brunch! This time we shared the waffle as well as the grilled halloumi and poached eggs on sourdough toasts (with a homemade harissa spiced hummus, rocket, pomegranate seeds and fresh coriander).
Both were delicious (and so beautifully presented), but I think my favourite was the poached egg dish. It was so good, such a perfect combination of flavours!
The new islington branch is also much bigger than the one in Goodge street, it has a very nice sophisticated decor and a lovely little garden area where I look forward to enjoying many more brunches on beautiful summer days. 🙂

I’m so glad I discovered this site as I haven’t had cinnamon rolls in ages and now I know where to go! Thanks! 🙂
Awesome! 🙂
The honey cake at this place is insanely good, easily the best cake here I think and better than a lot of others I’ve had recently!
Ooh I still haven’t tried the honey cake, I’ll have to give it a try next time I’m there. 🙂
I love Beyond Bread! How did I miss hearing about this till now? Sounds like I need to follow you 🙂
I know right, it seems like a lot of people are unaware of their Islington branch. I live right next and even I took a while to notice. 😉
